Will Niava is a film director whose work spans West Africa, the United States, and Canada. With a background as expansive as his geographical reach, Niava combines a striking and raw visual aesthetic with visceral storytelling to create provocative and immersive cinematic experiences.
His award-winning short film Zoo delves into the tenuousness of social order, earning a dozen awards from over 100 international film festival selections and securing a spot in the prestigious Criterion Collection. Niava’s commitment to dynamic filmmaking continues with Jazz Infernal, a short film currently in production, and Paradise, a feature in post-production written with Oscar-nominated director Jeremy Comte.
In addition to his film work, Niava has directed TV series and produced content for major brands like Orange and Apple. His commercial and music video clientele includes Academy and Grammy Award winners Billie Eilish & H.E.R., facilitated through Amazon Music. Represented by the LA-based Florence Co. for music videos and commercial projects, Niava is also managed by Brendan Kenney from Everyday Films for narrative work.
